The final video
Hello,
finally our first stop motion film and first assignment in Animation Principles is ready!
Edd is collecting rocks (his favourite hobby) when a spaceship with two drug addicts comes from the sky. So they try to teach him how to have fun "in their way"...
After finishing our first project I can say that it has been hard but I loved it. I loved it less when I had to refilm a short scene for about 3 times. But it is definitely worth it.
As an autocriticism I agree with Alexandra's final feedback and I think we should have planned more in advance the narrative in order to make it more clear for who views the movie for the first time to understand what is going on.
It is also true that with one minute a disposition and no audio/text allowed it is hard to make everything come out perfectly clear. In our case I think the animation gets clearer towards the end.
The best scene is probably Edd's dream, and I invite you to watch the film more times to catch all those little details and secondary movements we put here and there (for example Kurai nodding while Edd is drinking the potion).
This was our updated setup for the scene.
We put that piece of glass, that we took from Architecture department, over a cardboard box, where we positioned all the assets and where we would animate the scene.
In this way the whole setup was stable and easy to animate!
