Dragon - Rigging

Hi!

I am convinced that if you learn how to rig properly, then all the rest is just superfluous.

I definitely think that rigging is the hardest part of the whole process and it took me ages even just to figure out how I wanted my model to be rigged. There are so many possibilities of different systems to rig, that you kind of have to know what you're doing.
Otherwise, you just mess up.

Everything needs to be very precise and you need to check every single bone in every single part of the body to make sure it moves properly.

That said, I had lots of fun, and I learnt like crazy :-)

Being my model a bit unusual, is not reducible to any of the premade rigging systems or CAT objects.
I had to make a system of bones and dummies from scratch and I changed my rig many times.

This is my first one. (Notice the amount of completely useless dummies I put in the body ha ha)

In the final rig, I have a system of bones that control the head and makes the mouth to move;
Three systems of bones for the body, linked to each other and controllable by an IK helper;
A separate rig for the eyes, in the way that they can be moved and they can blink.

I am happy with the result, if I would do it again I would add more flexibility to the body, and a cloth effect to moustaches (that got deleted in the process) and tail.

Byee,
Eleonora
